Happy Holidays from Jason Copping

Posted Under: Jason Copping

2020 certainly proved to be a year that I am sure we will never forget, and many of us look forward to a better new year.  Not only have we endured a crash in oil price and an economic recession, but the world has seen a global pandemic not seen since the Spanish Flu.

COVID-19 has meant that we have all needed to be patient and at times put our lives on hold for the greater good.  I want to thank you for doing your part and continuing to take precautions for the health and safety of our community and neighbours.

I am optimistic that in the coming year, we will deal with these challenges; a vaccination is forthcoming and with Alberta’s Recovery Plan in place we are primed to take 2021 by storm.  Whether it be supporting Alberta tech startups through the Alberta Enterprise Corporation or laying the groundwork for geothermal energy development, the Alberta government is continuing to create jobs, invest in infrastructure and diversify our economy.

The fall legislative session was busy as government continued to reduce red tape, strengthen public safety and work with our Chief Medical Officer of Health on recommendations to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

This holiday season will no doubt look different.  Our holiday gatherings will be smaller, dinners with friends and family scaled back and you may not be able to travel like years past.  I want to wish everyone and their families all the best this holiday season. With the strength and resilience of Albertans I look forward to 2021.

As always, if you need to get in touch with me on any provincial issue or have questions, please feel free to reach out to my office at Calgary.Varsity@assembly.ab.ca.
